Mission

Harnessing the talents and skills of youth, representing, and harmonizing their interest, and facilitating a sustainable environment where young people are empowered, have equal access to opportunities, and are able to maintain and lead the national development agenda.

Vision

The National Youth Council of Antigua and Barbuda provides a safe and healthy environment for youth involvement and development.

Aims and Objectives: 

  • Ensure that representations are made to the Government and other interest groups on matters affecting youth.  
  • Support all youth bodies in developing and implementing a national youth advocacy agenda.
  •  Produce an autonomous organisation with the role of independently creating policies on youth related issues. 
  •  Build and implement a national strategy for youth human rights awareness and education. 
  •  Provide advice to the Department of Youth Affairs and any other ministry or partnering agency on the creation and revision of youth programs. 
  •  Advocate for youth representation and active participation at major national, regional, and international decision-making platforms. 
  • Disseminate information pertinent to youth through the use of all necessary media. 
  • Lobby government and submit guidelines for the creation and amendments of legislation to the cabinet of Antigua and Barbuda. 
  •  Support national youth networks in creating a model for genuine adolescents and youth participation. National Youth Council of Antigua & Barbuda (NYCAB) Constitution 
  •  Facilitate and provide opportunities for young people to meet, exchange ideas and share best practices, and act as a central point of contact and representation for all youth bodies, networks and unattached youth in Antigua and Barbuda
